The Larry Tutson Jr. Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization birthed to honor the memory of Larry Joe Tutson, Jr. the son of Greg and Barbara Smith, who lost his life while helping a dear friend. Their goal is to channel their grief into spreading blessings to others. You can support their cause or find out more here.
Larry Joe Tutson Jr. lost his life while helping a dear friend. Amongst her grief, Mrs. Smith wanted to continue the loving and giving spirit of her son, which led to the Smiths starting this foundation. With the help of friends, they began an annual Christmas toy drive for disadvantaged families in South Dallas. 2022 will be the 20th year that they have provided holiday cheer to 500 children.
We are a nonprofit organization built of volunteers with the same shared goal; to help children and others in need. It takes a village to raise a child, so we work as members to these villages and serve them. We do this through awarding academic scholarships, an annual toy drive, donating school supplies, etc. We also provide assistance to elderly and low income families in efforts to support our mission.
Our vision is to continue to do our due diligence for the youth and people of our community through positive impact and assistance. We desire to see a future where each child is afforded the opportunity and resources to achieve their dreams. We have more things to come to further our vision.
The video above is a Fox 4 segment on our foundation that dives deeper into the story of our son and shows our work in action.
